#14 How Manifesting Energy Helps Build Community-Driven Businesses

I’m on my woo woo sh*t this week and no one can stop me. We’re writing affirmations, manifesting our dreams and turning lemons to lemonade.

The energy you carry with you and bring to your business and community each day is contagious. And the more you can learn to control your energy, the more successful you'll be and the more positive impact you can make.

I'm taking a big risk today and we're going to cover both woo woo energetics AND American football. Yes, I'm serious. And if you’re not an American football fan stick with me for one minute–

Gooooo Sports!

There was a point in time during my childhood where 3/5 of my older siblings had Baltimore “Ravens rooms” in their homes. This meant purple and black walls, big TVs and memorabilia everywhere.

My brother was even in the Baltimore news at one point for a custom Ravens bar he had built in his house.

Fast forward ~18 years and my husband and I have built something similar in our home (but instead of Ravens memorabilia everywhere its more like purple tinted art & chalkboard walls).

People are always surprised that I’m in to sports. But watching the Ravens play reminds me of my community and it gives me inspired energy.

What I love about going to sports events is the contagious energy of a stadium full of people or a room full of fans. And can we just take a minute to appreciate the rigor and dedication that athletes apply to honing their craft? It’s pretty incredible.

Yesterday Quarterback Lamar Jackson signed a 5 year contract with the Ravens (which is a BFD). I love this video – Jackson references any past failure as motivation. “They’re going to get a super bowl out of me. Believe that.”

Jackson’s belief that he can do it and his dedication to learn as much as he can will result in a successful career. When you bring positive energy to your work and your community, that’s the power of rallying a team and an entire fan base around you.

If Oprah can, so can you

And that’s her message. The people we love to follow, look up to and believe in bring inspired energy to the world.

Oprah has built an empire through her authentic ability to inspire others. Her vulnerability and honesty about her challenges and struggles has allowed her to build deep connections with her audience.

Oprah’s inspirational energy is contagious. She inspires others to pursue their dreams because they’ve watched her pursue hers. Her passion comes through in her work and her vision is genuine. She leads with gratitude and encourages others to do the same.

So what can we learn from top athletes and respected public figures?

Winning Energy = Winning Reality

It’s like that R.S. Grey quote– ”she believed she could and so she did”.

Bossbabe co-founder Danielle Canty says building business is 80% mindset and 20% skill. That means you have to focus on creating positive energy and intention every single day to be successful. Not every day will be a 100% energy day but setting the intention is what counts.

This energy? Positive, fiery, inspirational energy? It spreads like wildfire.

If you haven't seen Amy Cuddy's Ted Talk about the  power of your body language then it's a must-watch. If I'm in a rough mood but I have to meet with my team or run a workshop, I go stand in superwoman pose in front of the mirror for a solid 10 deep breaths. It works every time.

Sharing a message and inspiring a community with this kind of energy creates momentum.

So the next time you step in front of your community on a live call, send an email to your members, write product release notes, reach out for a partnership…

  • Do a superwoman power pose

  • Align yourself with your purpose

  • Bring intentional energy to those you’re serving

It draws people in, it creates the kind of space that you want to share with your friends and loved ones. It’s community-driven. It’s just good business.

Bring good things to the world through your passion, empathy and intentional energy. When you do that, you’ll find success. Go have a kickass day, friend. ✌️
